I didn’t know it’d be a “part 1” at the time.
Here we are, 2 years later. Life was going smoothly during the initial part of the pandemic. Conservatives were distracted by the allure of bleach and horse de-wormer, they hadn’t yet attempted to overthrow the U.S., and the UK was more focused on not dying.
The point was confirmed, and remains, the only problem with transitioning is other people.
Then Conservatives in U.S. and U.K. decided that they wanted to be those other people that are problems.
Both groups decided that “Trans people shouldn’t get healthcare they need.” For no reason other than… no reason. There’s platitudes thrown around, talking points, but no real reasons. It’s purely that conservativism has become the platform of “Lets oppress people”.
As people of the free world, we find oppressors growing louder, to the point where I’m beginning to have concern for my safety. I do not feel safe visiting the state my parents live in, and have turned down multiple lucrative job offers that are in more oppressive states.
As a woman who has had to deal with the transition process, the process is akin to removing a horrible tumor that has been there your entire life, and when it’s addressed, you finally feel human for the first time.
Transition, for trans people, is a beautiful and transformative process, from darkness into light.
Again, the only difficulty comes from the unacceptance of other people, which isn’t a trans person problem, it’s not a transition problem, it’s a problem of other people insisting on being horrible problem.
