We have solid scientific evidence that gender is not the simple thing you think it is, AND it’s not a ‘god of the gaps' scenario. The research found that the genetics were able to predict a person’s gender and sexuality that they would claim with an accuracy of over 98%. This is *far* from a ‘God of the gaps* scenario. This is a, ‘We could get you a blood test *today* and tell you exactly your gender and sexuality if you’re willing to pay for it’.

What *is* a ‘God of the gaps' scenario is your claim that its delusion. The only reason that *exists* as an explanation is that it wasn’t as well once understood and it was attempted to be explained away as delusion. It was only ever an assumption. Someone who actually thinks scientifically knows to give up bad assumptions, bigots do not. There is no biochemical evidence that being trans is delusion (and delusion makes some pretty clear signals on MRI scans, signals that does not correlate with being trans).

And the DSM isn’t tying itself in knots. Dysphoria is a vertigo sensation when your body and self-identity don’t match. Many cis people can experience minor dysphoria simply by playing a VR game that has mirrors and gives them an unfamiliar body (and interestingly, Trans people handle this better because they’re used to it.) Once a trans person’s body and identity match, there’s no longer dysphoria, hence why Trans *isn’t* a disorder. And the process of changing the body is much less harmful than changing the personality. The former only leaves a few scars, some weeks of healing, and a lifetime of feeling good about yourself. The latter is an attempt to rewrite the very core of a person’s personality set at a genetic level — anything you do to change that is going to be literally more invasive to the psyche than the attempted prisoner-of-war torture techniques that had the goal of creating sleeper agents in the cold war(which generally failed, BTW).

So a few surguries and a daily pill with proven results vs literal torture with unreliable results that not even shadowy covert ops with massive super-power budgets behind them can reliably achieve but will risk leaving you a mindless vegetable….
